Merino sheep were bred to have more skin folds in order to increase wool yield. However, this resulted in the animals also developing folds on the sides of their hindquarters, where maggots nest and eat away at the animals. As a result, farmers began practicing mulesing, a procedure in which this skin fold on the hindquarters is cut away in young lambs. However, this is a bloody process that is often performed without anesthesia. On many farms, these skin folds have already been bred out, so there is no need to cut anything away from the animals. The result of this process is mulesing-free wool, which we source for our entire production.

From the very beginning, we have produced our goods exclusively in Europe under fair conditions, because employees here have important rights and environmental protection standards must be upheld. This allows us to ensure that we do not use child labor or forced labor and that workers are paid at least the minimum wage. In addition, there are other important rights such as occupational health and safety, training, the right to part-time work and to assemble, normal working hours, etc.

Eco-friendly production, as well as waste recycling, wastewater treatment, and the use of sustainable energy, are also very important and are strictly adhered to.

It’s also very important to be mindful of the environment when it comes to shipping. Ourpackage delivery services are already reducing CO2 emissions through route optimization, electronic package notifications, and increased use of natural gas and electric vehicles for deliveries, and they track these figures. Any emissions that are still produced are offset through renewable energy projects and the planting of new trees.
