A Look Behind the Scenes: A Visit to Our Knitwear Production Facility in Portugal

Regularly visits to Portugal

Our production facility is located near Porto, Portugal. We visit our production partner regularly, as personal contact and direct communication are particularly important to us. Our production agent, Helder, is on site several times a week. He oversees the production of various brands, including ours, and ensures that all garments are manufactured according to our specifications. This means we have a point of contact right at the factory several times a week who is familiar with the processes and keeps a close eye on quality.

A small family-owned business

Our production facility is a family-run business with fewer than 50 employees. It’s small, personal, and characterized by a great attention to detail. We particularly value a careful and meticulous approach to work. Every step of the process is carried out with great care, and quality is always our top priority. It is precisely this kind of collaboration that is important to us.

From the Computer to the Knitting Machine

How is a knitted sweater actually made? It all starts with the knitting pattern, which is created on a computer. The data is then transferred to the knitting machines. These machines knit the individual parts of the garment directly into their respective shapes. This is how, for example, a finished sleeve, a pant leg, or the front and back panels of a sweater are created. It’s fascinating to see how a real knitted garment gradually takes shape from a digital program.

Many steps lead to the finished garment

After knitting, the individual pieces are carefully sewn together using special sewing machines. Each piece is then inspected with glow sticks to detect even the smallest irregularities in the knit pattern. Finally, the garment is washed, dried, shaped in a special press, and ironed. Only after all production steps are complete and the quality checks have been passed do the individual knitted pieces become a finished YOU LOOK PERFECT favorite.
